Synthesis of Dibromobis(triphenylphosphine oxide) manganese(II)

Separate solutions are prepared from 27.8 g of triphenylphosphine oxide dissolved in 20 mL of n-butanol and 10.75 g of manganese dibromide dissolved in 20 mL of n-butanol. Heating and stirring must be applied to completely dissolve the reactants. The solutions are combined, stirred and heated on a hot plate until no more precipitate forms. The mixture is cooled down, filtered and washed with some cold methanol. The crude product is then recrystallized from hot methanol.
