Synthesis of Copper(I) cyanide with a cyanide salt

Two separate solutions are prepared by dissolving 14 g of copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate in 125 mL of water and 7 g of sodium sulfite in 175 mL of water. Subsequently, both solutions are added to 3.62 g of solid potassium cyanide with stirring and then the solution is left to be for 10 minutes. The mixture is filtered, washed with water and dried in a desiccator.
