Synthesis of 3,3′-Diamino-4,4′-Azoxyfurazan (DAAF)

15 g of 50% hydrogen peroxide is combined with 10 g of ice and 14 g of conc. sulfuric acid while maintaining the temperature below 20°C, then 2.5 g of diaminofurazan is added to the solution and the solution is stirred for 9h thereafter left to stand for 14h. The mixture is diluted with equal amount of water and put in a freezer until all of the product has crystallized out, the mixture is filtered and washed with some water. The product is recrystallized from hot ethanol.
