Add 50 g of very fine black pepper powder to 100 mL of isopropyl alcohol, add 10 g of sodium hydroxide, boil the mixture in the microwave under 800W for one minute, repeat this step 4 times and add 50 mL of dichloromethane, let the mixture set for 2 days shaking the solution few times per day. Filter the solution and evaporate 70 mL of the solvents, dissolve 5 g of potassium hydroxide in 20 mL of 90% ethanol 10% water, add it to the brownish solution. Boil the solution in 100°C for 10 minutes. Filter and wash the resins once with ethanol to get the residual piperine from it, start adding water as drops to the solution until no white or yellow piperine precipitates. Let the piperine crystallize for 24h and filter, recrystallize the crude piperine in acetone. Max yield is 8%.
